Quarterly Highlights

•   The retail industry has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 situation in Thailand due to the decrease in traffic, social distancing and the Thai government’s announcement to close all non-essential stores from 24 March onwards.

•   In Q1 2020, Bangkok’s total retail supply was at 7.7 million square metres or an increase  of  0.09%  Q-o-Q  and 1.92% Y-o-Y.

•   Thailand’s consumer confidence index (CCI) fell to 50.3 in March 2020, dropping by 30.30 percentage points or 37.59% Y-o-Y, the lowest point in 20 years.

•   The latest available data as of January 2020 for the retail sales index, according to the BOT, was 257.94, dropping 1.15 percentage points or a decrease of 0.44% Y-o-Y.
